VADguard came into being when a family member was stricken with cancer and was treated with chemotherapy following surgery.

The car shoulder strap crossed the patient's chest directly over his implanted chemotherapy port. The resulting discomfort from seatbelt pressure dissuaded the patient from wearing the seatbelt assembly, despite common sense safety concerns and laws requiring seatbelt use.

In an effort to provide the patient with seatbelt safety and insure comfort during seatbelt use, the VADguard cushion was developed and patented by the U.S. Patent Office.

VADguard LLC is a privately owned, family operation.
